ABOUT ME
Meet Lyndal

Hi, I’m Lyndal. I absolutely love helping people to thrive in their careers – it’s a thrill every time a client secures their dream role!
My Background
I have worked for several well-known Canterbury businesses, including House of Travel, and Lyttelton Port Company, as well as larger global companies such as Deloittes, TMP Worldwide, Virgin, Mediterranean Shipping Company, and Terra Cat (Caterpillar Heavy Equipment).
My previous roles have included: HR Advisor, Agency Recruiter, In-house Recruiter, and Talent Acquisition Advisor.
A ‘lightbulb’ moment
I realised something was flawed with the recruitment systems available to myself and the recruitment sector as a whole; we were often making recruitment decisions based on a candidate’s ability to produce high-quality application documents. It seemed more than likely we were missing out on high-calibre candidates who struggled to articulate their value throughout the application process.
In 2016 I established my business with the objective of addressing this issue. I pride myself on my ability to connect with clients to fully understand what they are striving for. I support my clients by collaborating with them to create professionally written application documents which accurately portray their unique skillsets and value.
Career pathways aren’t always a straight line
Having represented Canterbury in ‘Miss New Zealand’ in my younger days, I quickly learned the importance of embracing and delivering the complete package. Skills and knowledge are not sufficient in isolation, and may be overlooked if you fail to present them in a manner that is attractive (and informative) to your audience.
As illogical as some of my career and life choices may have seemed at the time, it is this exact combination of experience and skills that now help my clients find fulfilling work and/or pivot their careers.
My own journey has helped underline the importance for clients of building internal and external networks, knowing their strengths and what makes them happy at work, staying open-minded about their career path, and proactively creating new opportunities.
Time outside work
Spending time with others is important to me; I relish time spent with family and friends. As an early riser, I can often be found in the pool or at the gym before the sun rises – serving the dual purpose of keeping my mind clear, whilst ensuring I remain fit and healthy.
My other interests include open water swimming, paddle boarding and water-skiing. I have competed in the Tauranga Half Ironman, five half marathons and five 10km relays in the Buller Gorge Marathon, and completed the Nelson-based ‘Loop the Lake’ 25km Trail Run, twice.
I mention my interests above, because I strongly believe having interests outside work is crucial for balance; to recharge and ultimately live a truly rewarding life.
